Charlie Ergen says,
Impact of T-Mobile/AWS announcement
- DISH is a leader in the cloud-based network, which is going to be a necessity to get into the enterprise businesses.
- 25% of the enterprise business gross utilization wouldn’t be unreasonable for DISH to get, as opposed to the low double-digits in the retail business.
- DISH’s network is designed for enterprise and wholesale, and it is better positioned there.
Slow sales cycle
- The sales cycle is slow because of the need to architect, and everyone has a different flavor of what they want.
- DISH is looking at verticals where it already has relationships, such as rural America and leisure and entertainment business.
- DISH’s partners like Cisco, Amazon, and Dell have sales forces that are using those products.
Revenue from private networks
- DISH would expect to start seeing real revenue from private network next year and some movement this year.
- Companies starting with new private networks will force their competitors to do it because they just won’t be competitive without their own private networks.
Fierce Competition
- DISH is confident that they can do better than T-Mobile even if they go out and get customers.
John Swieringa says,

- DISH expects to increase Bonner coverage by about 50% per quarter.
- 30 million POPs today includes markets like Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, and Cleveland to name a few.
Q & A sessions,
Focus on FCC Requirements for Data and 5G Voice
- DISH is working on meeting FCC requirements for data coverage by covering 70% of the POPs and data.
- They have chosen to have the best voice in the industry and focus on 5G voice instead of legacy 2G, 3G, 4G voice.

- Commercial launch of 5G voice will take about six months from the time they get data to optimize the network.

- They plan to finance some of their business through retail, wireless, and the Network Co and are looking to refinance their convert in March 2023 with an equity component.
- DISH is not willing to sacrifice their balance sheet for short-term gains and is focused on generating cash flow from their network and making those two marry up in a timely manner.
DISH’s Focus on Postpaid Business
- DISH is focusing on generating more return on capital from the postpaid business and pivoting away from the prepaid business.
